Western Care’s unique sensitivity to the physical, mental and emotional needs of the elderly has made our company a leader in the senior housing industry. While others were focused on need-specific facilities, Western Care was working to provide a continuum of care. For instance, the 1970 design for Red Cliffs Health and Rehab, a progressive Skilled Nursing Facility in St. George, Utah, included a planned expansion into assisted care and independent living. That plan was realized with the construction of Sterling Court on an adjoining property. 

As the Red Cliffs/Sterling Court example shows, Western Care has always purposed to design communities, rather than facilities.  All of our communities have venues for small and large group activities, intimate conversations and private visits. Amenities such as libraries, craft rooms, swimming pools and gardens promote continued life enrichment, while also providing vehicles for the building of relationships. No less importantly, our community model grants seniors the ability to make the kind of intentional decisions about their lives and continued care that is now referred to as purposeful aging. 

To ensure that each resident’s needs are met, Western Care insists that all designs be as functional as they are beautiful. The kitchen, for example, must have unhindered access to the dining rooms and also efficient delivery pathways to resident rooms or apartments. By attending to details such as these, Western Care creates pleasant work environments for those who manage our communities and serve our residents.
